Top 5 Carcinogenic Ingredients to Avoid in Skincare

Oct 15, 2024

Icon

At Daisy Blue Naturals, we believe that skincare should nurture, heal, and enhance your well-being without compromising your health. That’s why we never use carcinogenic ingredients—substances that have been linked to cancer—in any of our products. Unfortunately, many mainstream skincare brands still use these harmful ingredients, even though they’re banned in other countries. Our mission is to offer safe, natural alternatives that you can trust for your entire family.

Here’s why we’ve taken a stand:
Carcinogens in skincare can accumulate in your body over time, leading to serious health risks, including cancer. When applied to your skin, which is your body’s largest organ, these toxic ingredients can be absorbed into the bloodstream. Over time, exposure to these harmful chemicals can lead to chronic health issues. We reject any ingredient that puts your health at risk because we believe in products that are pure, natural, and truly safe.

Top 5 Ingredients to Avoid in Your Skincare

While shopping for skincare, keep an eye out for these top 5 harmful ingredients, and make sure to steer clear of them:

1. Parabens

Often used as preservatives in cosmetics, parabens can mimic estrogen in the body and disrupt your hormones. They have been linked to breast cancer, which is why we refuse to use them in any Daisy Blue product.  We have formulated our own preservative and created a preservation system for our products that is just as effective, and 100% natural and safe!

2. Formaldehyde

Formaldehyde is a known carcinogen used in skincare as a preservative, especially in shampoos, lotions, and nail polishes. Even small amounts of formaldehyde can lead to skin irritation and increase the risk of cancer with long-term exposure.  You won’t find ‘formaldehyde’ on the label.  Stay away from these formaldehyde-forming ingredients:   DMDM Hydantoin, Imidazolindinyl Urea, Diazolidinyl Urea, Quaternium-15.

3. Phthalates

These are used to make fragrances last longer, but they can disrupt your endocrine system and have been associated with reproductive issues and cancer. You won’t find phthalates in any of our formulations, and unfortunately, not on an ingredient label.  Look for fragrance, parfum, polyvinyl chloride, and diethylphthalate.

4. Synthetic Fragrances

The term “fragrance” on an ingredient list often hides dozens of chemicals, many of which are linked to allergies, skin irritations, and respiratory issues. Some synthetic fragrances contain toxic chemicals like benzene derivatives, which are linked to cancer. We use only pure extracts and essential oils for scent and purpose in our products.

5.  Ethanolamine compounds

Ethanolamine compounds, such as cocamide DEA, MEA, and TEA, can form carcinogenic nitrosamines when combined with nitrosating agents, posing a cancer risk. These compounds are easily absorbed through the skin, leading to potential long-term exposure to harmful byproducts.

A Natural Commitment to Your Health
At Daisy Blue Naturals, we stand by our commitment to provide products that are 100% free of harmful chemicals and carcinogens. Instead of harsh chemicals, we rely on nature’s bounty to offer skincare solutions that truly nurture your skin. From our gentle cleansers to nourishing serums, you can feel confident that each Daisy Blue product is crafted with your health and well-being in mind.
