Start each day with 10 minutes of walking, yoga, or movement!
Commit to 30 minutes of moderate exercise (walking, biking, cardio) at least 3 times per week, or 1 ½ hours
of yoga. You can also break down your exercise into smaller parts. Research has shown that 3 -10 minute walks are just as effective as a 30-minute walk.

Remember the acronym, KISS (Keep it short and simple). So many times, we overburden ourselves with large TO-DO lists. What happens? We become overwhelmed, and instead of completing the list, we ignore it and do nothing! By keeping your priorities to 5 or fewer and committing to yourself that you will complete these 5 tasks today, you will attain more energy and time.

We live in a world that thrives on negativity, just read the paper or watch the evening news! We have become so accustomed to it, we don’t even notice it. The next time you see or hear something ‘negative’, think about how it made you feel. You may feel anxious, stressed, or even angry. The first step to ‘swim away’ is to recognize what is negative, and how it affects you.
- Eat, Drink, and have Energy!
Drink (filtered) water, the ultimate energy drink! How much water is enough? The old rule of eight 8 oz. glasses is not true for everyone. To determine how much is enough, convert your body weight into ounces, then divide by two. For example, a 150-pound person would need 75 ounces of water per day to stay hydrated. Whenever you feel hungry, reach for the water jug first. We often mistake hunger for thirst.
Eat for energy! The easiest way to choose foods that will give you energy is to stick to the basics: whole organic foods that come from nature and less processed foods. Genetics tells us that we should be eating whole foods. Our bodies were not developed to eat processed, which contain chemicals, pesticides, and inorganic materials. Your body knows how to process a cherry, but not cherry Kool-Aid®.
When you change your diet, your metabolism increases, your energy rises, and your mental and physical health improves.
- Lose your Mind
Meditate 10 minutes per day – lose your mind and take a short break Schedule this time and commit to it! First, find a quiet place, an office, a park, or a tree. Sit in a comfortable position. Focus on your breathing – inhaling through your nose and exhaling through your nose and mouth. Follow your breath; imagine that the air coming in and filling your lungs is bringing new life, balance, and energy, and the breath you expel is releasing all the toxic feelings (stress, anxiety, and sadness). Relax, and let your breath get quieter and lighter. As thoughts come into your mind, imagine that they are attached to a helium balloon that you let go, of and allow them to leave your mind. Focus on your breathing.
You will be amazed at how you feel after 10 minutes of ‘losing your mind!’
- Smile and laugh! Have FUN!
Did you know it takes far more muscles and willpower to frown than to smile? That isn’t by accident. We are meant to smile and have fun! When we are smiling, laughing, and having fun, our body releases those wonderful peptides called endorphins. Endorphins are nature’s way of giving us a non-habit forming and non-additive high. They give us more energy and allow our bodies to heal. Remove yourself from the day-to-day routines and get out and have fun! Be open to new ideas; try something new. By breaking out of our routines, we can bring new sensations and experiences into our minds. Take time to play. You’ll be more relaxed, and ready to take on the world!
