You’ve probably heard that drinking wine in moderation has been proven to help with heart health—but what about applying the same grapeseed benefits to our skin for anti-aging?
The next time you pour a glass of wine, take some time to appreciate the power of grapes. Not only has it been used for health benefits for thousands of years, research has found that grapeseed benefits include powerful anti-aging properties.
Free Radicals and Anti-Oxidants
Let’s start by addressing the role that free radicals play in our bodies. Free radicals are harmful compounds in the body that damage DNA (genetic material) and even cause cell death. They are believed to contribute to aging, as well as the development of a number of health problems, including heart disease and cancer.
In other words, free radicals = not so great for our health and our skin.
Enter: The Antioxidant. Antioxidants are substances that destroy free radicals—and, you guessed it, grapes are high in antioxidants. In fact, a study found that taking grapeseed extract substantially increased levels of antioxidants in the blood of healthy volunteers.
Grapes—or the chemicals within them, especially oligomeric proanthocyanidin complexes (OPCs)—have been touted as powerful antioxidants.
Given that we are exposed to free radicals every day, it is SO important to use products that are high in antioxidant properties.
To add to that, in the past year, fruit acids have become the most touted ingredient in facial and body creams because of their anti-wrinkle effect. Grapes’ tartaric acid is even thought to combat wrinkles by increasing skin collagen.
How It Works
To dive in deeper, let’s take a look at our Chardonnay Face Cream.
CHARDONNAY ~ EXTRACTED FROM THE SEEDS OF THE GRAPES OF THE WHITE CHARDONNAY IN THE REGION OF BURGUNDY IN FRANCE.
LABORATORY RESULTS SHOW CHARDONNAY EXTRACT TO BE 85% MORE EFFECTIVE THAN MOST ANTI-AGING TREATMENTS!
The white chardonnay grapes in our Chardonnay Face Cream work on the skin by increasing collagen production, thus ‘plumping’ the skin back to normal. Like we talked about in the section on antioxidants above, they also attack the free radicals and decrease the negative effects of free radicals on your skin.
Antioxidants will actually neutralize free radicals, molecules that have become highly reactive and destructive due to contact with outside sources and stress, like pollution, sunlight, everyday stressors, and lack of sleep. Without neutralizing free radicals in our skin, they will continue to lead to the familiar signs of aging: wrinkles, uneven skin tone, and a less supple, unhealthy looking appearance.
So, sit back and relax after applying your Chardonnay Face Cream, enjoy a glass of wine, and know that you’re doing the body good!
